Eyebrow Pencil – The Best Tips & Tricks
An eyebrow pencil is the perfect beauty tool to enhance your natural brow color and create perfect eyebrows! It allows you to shape your brows by defining the outline and draw additional hairs where you don't have any. Draw additional hairs on the skin between the hairs to make your eyebrows seem full and bold!
How to find the right eyebrow pencil
Our beauty experts answer all your questions about eyebrow pencils.
How to choose your eyebrow pencil color?
If you choose a color that is too dark for you, your look can quickly seem overdone. Also be careful not to choose an eyebrow pencil color that is too light for you as you won't see much of an effect. If you have naturally quite dark eyebrows, a light color will hardly make a difference in your look. As a rule of thumb, try to stay as close to your natural brow color when choosing your eyebrow pencil shade.
EXPERT BROW TIP: Take the eyebrow pencil and draw a little line on the inside of your forearm to see how the color look on your skin.
High quality eyebrow pencils
You will find that there are quite some differences between brow pencils when it comes to quality. High quality eyebrow pencils are highly pigmented, smudge-proof and water-resistant. In the store, you won't see any visible sign of quality. The only way to find out about the quality is to test the pencil.
Does a good eyebrow pencil have to be expensive?
No. More expensive does not necessarily mean better quality. More often than not you simply pay for the brand name. High-end brow pencils are not always better than brow pencils in a medium price range.

EYEBROW PENCIL TUTORIAL – STEP BY STEP
1 – Choose the right brow pencil color
We recommend using our color card to easily find out which brow pencil color suits you best.
2 – Find your perfect eyebrow shape
There are various methods to find your perfect eyebrow shape. Below we will show you the most popular method for finding the right brow shape. Read more tips and tricks in our tutorial: “The Perfect Eyebrow Shape” If you already found your perfect eyebrow shape, simply skip this step.
A – Where your Eyebrows should Begin
Hold the eyebrow pencil upright against your nose. Look where the pencil meets the brow line. The edge of the pencil that is closer to your nose marks the line where your brow should start. Use the White Stick to mark this location.
B – The Perfect Arch
To find your ideal arch point, hold the brow pencil against the side of your nostril towards the outer edge of your iris. Locate where the pencil meets your eyebrows and mark this spot with the White Stick.
C – Where Your Eyebrows Should End
Hold the brow pencil against the side of your nostril towards the outer corner of your eye. Locate the spot where the pencil meets the brow line. That is where the tail of your eyebrow should be. Mark the edge of the pencil that is closer to your eyes with the White Stick. If your eyebrows go beyond this point, use tweezers to remove the excess hair.
3 – Pluck Perfect Eyebrows
If you need to pluck your eyebrows, we recommend reading our Tips and Tricks for Eyebrow Plucking.
If you have plucked your brows already or if your eyebrows don't need plucking, you can skip this step.
4 – Comb your Brows
Use a brow comb or spooly brow brush to comb your brows in hair growth direction.
5 – Draw your eyebrow contours
Use the eyebrow pencil to draw the contours of your eyebrows in your desired shape. This way it is much easier to avoid going over the lines when filling in your brows.
NOTE: This step is only necessary if the natural eyebrow shape differs from your desired shape or if you have very sparse eyebrows.
6 – Use the brow pencil to draw additional hairs
Use your eyebrow pencil to draw additional hairs on and in between the eyebrow hairs. Apply more pressure to the pencil to achieve a darker color. Alternatively you can add a second layer to intensify your look.
7 – Comb your Brows
Use the Spooly Brow Brush to evenly distribute the color pigments. This way your makeup will also look softer and more natural.
8 – The Eyebrow Gel Trick
To make those brows last longer, make-up artists use a special trick. Simply comb your brows with some eyebrow gel and your brow pencil will stay on all day!
9 - The Finishing Touch: Highlighter / Concealer
As a finishing touch, we recommend using a brow highlighter / concealer. The concealer side of this 2-in-1 pencil allows you to quickly cover any blemishes around your eyebrows. The highlighter side of the pencil is used to highlight your brow bone. This will give your brows an instant lift!
And you're done! If you are not a 100% happy with the result yet, don't give up right away. Practice makes perfect! Keep on practicing every day and you will see that after a few weeks you'll master the skill of using your eyebrow pencil to create those perfect brows!
