The Perfect Eyebrow Shape | With Pencil & Face Shape
How to Find the Perfect Eyebrow Shape
You can say that in general, your natural eyebrow shape should suit your face best. Often however, either very few brow hairs or a very light color require you to enhance your brows. In this case, it is important to know what eyebrow shapes suits you best.
To find the perfect eyebrow shape, usually one of the following two methods are used: 1) Eyebrow Shape with Pencil Method. This method is used to enhance your natural eyebrow shape and is also the most common brow shaping method. 2) Your ideal eyebrow shape is determined by the individual shape of your face.
METHOD 1 – EYEBROW SHAPE WITH PENCIL
Use the eyebrow pencil trick to easily determine where your eyebrows should begin, where the arch should be and where your brows should end.
You need:
• (Eyebrow) Pencil
• White Stick
Use the eyebrow pencil to draw your ideal brow shape. The white stick is normally used as a primer to make your eyebrow powder waterproof.
A – Where your Eyebrows should Begin
Hold the eyebrow pencil upright against your nose. Look where the pencil meets the brow line. The edge of the pencil that is closer to your nose marks the line where your brow should start. Use the white stick to mark this location.
B – The Perfect Arch
To find your ideal arch point, hold the brow pencil against the side of your nostril towards the outer edge of your iris. Locate where the pencil meets your eyebrows and mark this spot with the White Stick.
C – Where Your Eyebrows Should End
Hold the brow pencil against the side of your nostril towards the outer corner of your eye. Locate the spot where the pencil mets the brow line. That is where the tail of your eyebrow should be. Mark the edge of the pencil that is closer to your yes with the white stick. If your eyebrows go beyond this point, use tweezers to remove the excess hair.

METHOD 2 – THE BEST EYEBROW SHAPE FOR YOUR FACE SHAPE
What eyebrow shape is best for my face?
Your unique face shape plays a role in determining which eyebrow shape works best for you. Knowing your face shape is the first step to creating your most beautiful look.
Face shapes
We generally distinguish between 6 different face shapes: oval, round, long square, heart, diamond. When determining your face shape, make sure to pull your hair back so that the outline of your face is fully exposed. You can easily figure out which face shape you have by asking yourself the following questions: What's the widest part of your face? What's the shape of your jaw? And what's the length of your face?
1 – Oval
• Face is slightly longer than it is wide • Your forehead is wider than your jaw line • Cheekbones are the widest part of your face • Face gracefully tapers to a narrow chin |
This face shape is often considered as a well-proportioned, ideal face shape.
Eyebrow shape for an oval face:
A classic, soft angled eyebrow shape! This brow shape goes straight up and then gently curves round at the top and down.
2 - Round
• Measurements of width and length are basically equal • Your face is widest at the cheek bones |
Eyebrow shape for a round face:
An angled brow with a higher arch! By making sure your brows are very angular, a round face seems less round. The perfect angled brow can bring out and define facial bone structure that is lacking or not present. A high arch is flattering for round faces. Try to avoid a round eyebrows as they will cause round faces appear even rounder.
3 – Long (rectangular)
• Your forehead, cheek bones and jaw are equal in width • Your face is notably longer than it is wide • Face shape tapers towards the chin |
Eyebrow shape for a long face:
A flat eyebrow shape works best for you! The flat brow shape creates an optical illusion and makes a long face appear shorter, bringing it into balance.
4 - Square
• Your forehead, cheeks and jawline are almost equal in width • The square jaw is your strongest feature |
Eyebrow shape for a square face:
An angled eyebrow shape is perfect for you! A square jaw is a strong feature that is best balanced with an angled brow. You can also soften your look with a curved brow shape. Both a stronger color and a thicker shape help balance a strong jawline. A sharp peak at the top of the brow makes your eyebrows appear strong and defined. Angled brows create a perfect balance in square shaped faces.
Tip: Also consider a curved brow shape (as suggested for diamond face shapes) as the curves will soften typically strong features in square faces.
5 - Heart
• Similarities to the oval face shape • Face shape strongly tapers towards the chin • Your chin is pointy |
Eyebrow shape for a heart shaped face:
Rounded eyebrows are perfect for you! A low arch rounded brow creates a natural look, while a highly arched brow can add length to a shorter heart shaped face or create a dramatic look. The curve of the brow is soft, feminine and attractive and also creates the heart like look of the face.
6 - Diamond
• Your face is rather angular • Short chin • Face is widest at the temples |
Eyebrow shape for a diamond face shape:
A curved brow shape suits you best! Curved eyebrows will soften your look and make the widest portion of your face look less wide.
A second popular choice for diamond face shapes are round eyebrows (also suggested for the heart face shape).
